Waste of Time July 24, 2010 StockGuru504 (Outside New Orleans) I purchased this unit in June of 2010 and returned it shortly thereafter. I bought the unit because my older HD TV only has two HD RCA type input connections, and I needed another for my Roku Player for Netflix. The A/V box was easy to set up, but it would not hold the Roku/Netflix signal on any of the open inputs. It kept reverting back to the main DVR input. Also, the remote was totally useless. You could press one of the 4 buttons and you never knew when it would change to the device you wanted. This purchase was a total waste of my time. Fortunately, I mailed it right back to Amazon with no problem getting my first refund for any item purchased on their website. In my opinion, they should not even offer this unit for sale on their website.
You get what you pay for. June 28, 2010 Mark R. Walk 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
A nice unit for the price, however, the video goes black quite often when the TV program switches between scenes. I am using this to funnel multiple HD signals to one old Sony Hi Def Rear projection TV at 1080i. I am hoping the >$200 units won't do this.
wired wrong June 9, 2010 Great Dane (Pennsy) this was a replacement for another similar model that shorted out.
this updated model had one of the channels wired wrong and the sound does not work on that channel.
got the video to work by chance, switched the jacks in different holes that it should not have gone in and got the video to come on. Go figure!
Hate sending stuff back so will live with it till it goes like the first one.
Hack this switch! its great June 7, 2010 John E. Tirrell I could find no reasonably price switches that will handle 5.1 audio. I (we all) need this because computer sound cards are only good with multi-channel output. Sooo I got this little gem of a switch which is designed to handle component video, stereo and a composite video channel. It is also designed for 4 inputs and one output. I needed one input, the computer sound card, and multiple outputs. No problem.
I hacked the circuit board easily, because it is a big board with widely separated components. After bypassing the output filters and the digital diodes the device becomes an electronic `pass through' switch for 5.1 audio. It has nice LEDs on the front to indicate which path is in use and it even comes with a remote control!
Like this gadget! May 26, 2010 P. Koch Easy to use, practical solution for the typical problems of not enough inputs on your reciever, for the multiple devices we all enjoy!. I use it only for the digital coaxial audio at this time. Sound quality is uncompromised and consistent. No complaints here. I can recommend this item.
