I'm 50/50 June 29, 2010 Natalie Michal Using the cord is a no-brainer. You just need a male-to-male HDMI cord to complete the hookup to your TV. I did find that the mini DVI side of the cord is a bit awkward - I guess I would just expect it to fit more snugly into the port on my Mac. Regardless, it works fine...if your computer can handle it...
One word of advice from my experience is to make sure you have enough RAM on your computer to transmit images/videos onto your TV. The purpose of me buying this cord was a cheap solution to watch Hulu/Fancast videos of my favorite shows online while having the image show up on the TV screen. It worked once, but now my computer stops playing videos as soon as I hook it up to my TV. And as soon as I unplug the cable, the computer immediately starts playing it again. I called Apple Support and after a few troubleshooting tests, figured it was probably because my computer doesn't have enough RAM. So my cheap solution has been foiled. Time to spend $100-200 on installing new RAM!
So all in all, the cord works fine. You just need to make sure you have all of the correct components before you can expect to cancel your cable service and make the switch to watching TV online.
Great product June 28, 2010 J. Higueros (Phoenixville, PA USA) Item works perfectly with my Mac. It fits a little tight but it does what it's supposed to do. I would recommend to anyone that wants to use their TV as monitor and get the highest resolution possible.
Does what it needs to. June 28, 2010 KokoBrosas I bought this a few months ago for my iMac and it's served me well. It does what it says it will. I currently have it connected to a Samsung 32 inch. The set-up was easy.
The only flaw I see in this product that it will give off a terrible signal if it is not snugly connected to your iMac.
* The possibilities of having this are limitless. Primarily, you can use this to "mirror" your iMac; as in use your HDTV as a display. But, what I also learned is you can use this to "dual screen" your iMac. In other words, you can use your connected HDTV as another screen for your iMac and drag other applications to your TV, while keeping DIFFERENT/SEPARATE working applications on your mac.
Works with MACBOOK June 6, 2010 Luke skywalker I have a white Macbook laptop 13". I have an Acer 22inch 1080P monitor. Works perfect!
Great value, poor construction June 2, 2010 Chris Harrison (Augusta, GA USA) I've had this adapter since early March. I use it with a Mac mini to connect a 24" ASUS LCD monitor. When I first got it, it worked great. But, I've noticed after unplugging/plugging it several times, the cable has started pulling away from the mini-DVI end. This has caused interference more than a few times. The degraded connection has caused my monitor to lose signal or display static. I'm pretty sure it's the adapter, as I've been able to use several other adapters without having any issues with the monitor.
If you routinely need to plug/unplug an HDMI monitor, you may want to try another adapter, otherwise, this one should be decent enough for most people.
