| | | | DVD+R: Quality Media Storage DVD+R is a rewriteable format with a storage lifetime intended for storing videos and archiving important business or personal data. Compared with CD-Rs, DVD+Rs offer more storage space and faster write times, making them a natural choice for preserving media and other large files. Each AmazonBasics DVD+R disk can record up to two hours of DVD+quality video programming. A single DVD+R can also hold three hours of VHS-quality video or more than 60 hours of MP3 audio. DVD-R Compatibility There are two types of recordable DVD disks available. Almost all recent DVD players and drives can handle both burned DVD-R and DVD+R disks, but some older players can only read one format or the other. It is important to check your player’s manual to determine which DVD type it supports. 16X Write Speed and Organic Dye: Built for Fast, Accurate, Quality Writing AmazonBasics DVD+R disks enable fast write speeds from 2.4X to 16X for quick, clean data transfer. (To take full advantage of these speeds, your DVD burner must burn at speeds of at least 16X. Consult your computer or DVD burner product manual for this information.) A 16X transfer speed translates to 21.60 MB/s, which means that you can burn a full disk in less than four minutes. The organic dye used on the write side of these DVD+Rs provides stable writing at high speeds for reliable, accurate finished disks. Are They Good? March 11, 2010 Steve Mildfelt Sr. (OAKHILL, KANSAS, US) I have used Fuji, Memorex, Maxell and now Amazon. I average 200+ movies per year. The Amazon are as good as the Maxell and Fuji and better than Memorex. So far I've not had any platters, but then I always use +R's and burn at 4x speed for best video quality. There is plenty of room on the disc to write your label. The packaging is well done. As for shipping Amazon double boxed. Since I live in the boonies, anytime I can purchase a good product and have it delivered to my door cheaper than going to town, I'll buy it.
Good blank dvd March 10, 2010 A. East Blodgett Product has great write speed and pretty good reliability for video burning. Not a bad product and its cheap which is why I bought it in the first place.
Great value March 9, 2010 DHO (NOLA, United States) These disks burn at 16x every time on MacBook Pro.
I have not had a disk failure yet, and I have had no problems transferring the media to computer computers and DVDs play in my sony DVD player.
Pros: exactly as described, 16x, no failures, works in DVD player, WOW what a value
Cons: I really prefer non-branded white topped disks
Please note this is DVD+R, it will work on dual layer (DVD-DL, DVD9) and DVD+R burners, and it will not work on DVD-R burners.
For people having errors burning, I strongly recommend using another program or computer for a test burn. On macs try using your Disk Utility to burn a file to see if it works. On a PC try professional tool, such as Nero. Also burners go bad, if every disk you touch fails,.... chances are it's not the disks, but your computer.
wasnt to happy with this one March 7, 2010 A. Jackson (mccomb ms) half of the dvds would not play back will not get any more of these
Equivelant to the the big names March 4, 2010 Shiela M. Jensen (Shelton, WA, USA) I use dvd's alot, and have used many different brands, sony, fuji, memorex, etc. and these little suckers do the just the same. Quality is wonderful, and the price is very adequate.
