nice looking solid construction, easy to install on windows 7 machine did not require extra software for install. Haven't used the light scribe on this machine but will say light scribe is cool to do but not very easy to read on a real cd/dvd

I would advise not buying any product from this manufacturer. I bought a DVD Multi Recorder (AD-7170A) sometime ago and within a month it quit working. I contacted support at least a dozen times about getting it replaced and even pay to get it replaced or repaired and never received a reply. Sony NEC Optiarc Inc. is bad news.

Due to the great price i picked up two of these. After 3 months i kept getting power calibration error. SO i decided to call Amazon. I get the response to call sony to troubleshoot. Then sony tells me they are not going to troubleshoot since Amazon has agreed to warranty the product. So then Amazon tells me to open the drive up and clean the lenses (I have only had this for four months and both drives are doing this with two different types of media). Amazon would not let me replace or return since i am 5 days past 3 months which means, no suport! What a shame! I am going with pioneer next, and you can bet i am NOT getting it from Amazon!
My advice, stay away from this drive! In four months both of the ones i ordered are failing, and unless you want to troubleshoot it yourself, you can spend your money on a Samsung burner which has a better warranty!
Other thoughts: The drive is a plain oem drive, no cables or software, but i knew that before i bought it, i just wish two drives didn't fail after 3 months.
