Can Not handle Loud Volumes. Not for Band Use! September 1, 2010 Julian Compton (Gainesville, FL) Do not try this product for a full band or loud instruments. It cannot handle high SPLs. A drum set will destroy the microphone elements. If you want to record a band practice or a drum set, look elsewhere. I had two of these and both failed after an hour of recording. It might be fine for a podcast with just an unamplified human voice, but it is worthless for a rock band.
Customer service didn't return my call and had no solutions via e-mail. They claim it can handle high SPLs. It will not.
Best Mic I have owned yet... August 29, 2010 David Colley II No matter how many reviews you read that mention how big this thing is, you can not truly understand the size until you put it on your desk. It is freakin HUGE!
The sound quality is phenominal. You would never know it was a USB mic, it sounds that good! The range it picks up is unheard of. I do not have to be anywhere near the mic and it picks up my voice loud and clear. The disadvantge to this, it picks up all the background noise as well. A simple pass through an audio editor and it removes the distractions.
I purchased the Blue pop filter along with it. BEWARE!! The pop filter was not designed for this mic. There is nowhere on the Mic stand that the pop filter fits. I had to use a pair of pliers and "jerry rig" the pop filter clasp to fit on the mic stand. The pop filter works great and the combo looks awesome on my desk.
I would recommend the mic to anyone wanting to record great sound!
retarted if you dont buy August 29, 2010 Earl Emmanuel this is the best mic for the money...dont expect instant high quality because it is not a studio mic but may as well be..its pretty close and the difference between functions had me astounded even more than when i bought my shure or my mxl studio condenser mics which by the way i would compare them the same quality to the yeti yet the yeti needs no phantom power and no audio interface
Impressive August 26, 2010 jwgreg (Louisville, KY) I have only had this product a few days and I'm very impressed. Currently I am using it to create screen-casts for training on a new software system. The first screen-cast I created using the built-in microphone on my Macbook pro. That microphone is fine for iChat but that is about the limit for it. The second screen-cast was done using the Yeti and what an unbelievable difference.
Blue Yeti IPAD PROBLEMS August 22, 2010 James (Hoholulu, HI USA) 2 out of 4 found this review helpful
Blue Microphones Yeti USB Microphone I purchased the IPAD YETI USB Microphone for IPAD assistance in acoustic recordings. I find the Yeti crashes the IPAd from time to time when using the blue fire and fire recording apps. Using the internal IPAD microphone does not creat this problem (using the same apps). Other's high reviews notwithstanding, the Ipad application for which the microphone was recommended by a reviewer appears problematic. Hence the reason for my low rating. With other recording systems, the microphone may indeed be fine (this, I have not check). I plan to try the mike with my regular laptop when I have time. Any recommendation on suitable laptop PC recording software would be appreciated.
