I've tried many distortion boxes and amp modelers. The Tech 21 Sans Amp GT2, Pod 2.0, Line 6 and Boss floorboards, etc. The Tri-A.C. is the only box that sounds raw, warm, and real. Everything else just sounds so digital.
This is not a pedal to use for metal distortions-- although you can get some healthy distortion, this pedal is more geared towards blues, classic rock, etc. I've been able to get some good Neil Young and AC/DC tones, but you're not going to get that Eddie Van Halen or Rob Zombie processed sound (if you want it).
The ability to bring up your favorite three presets with an analog pedal is also very cool.
