Easy to install. Works great so far. Construction is a little weak: disc tray is very loose.

I expected better out of the Sony name but the drive works, it is weak on opening
the tray door, I feel the drive is marginal.

This is very good dvd-cd writer. Maybe wrong on speed when writing dvd's. dvd's speed is 16x max and the writing speed on the drive said 20x. some mistaken for speed though it is capable of writing at 24x on dvds. but no dvd disc was not 20x. it is only 16x verbatim dvds. And it seems slow disc detection upon insert. ( seek time) say maybe 15 sec or so in order for it to show up on computer. system is Asrock sli 750i AD w/ 2.5 gb rams 800mhz. overclocked e5200 to 3.4 ghz. x-fired ati hd 3870 overclocked ed (x2). I say this drive detects disc s slower than the ide philip dvd rw. (manuf. in 2005). That's I give it a 4 stars cause of the name brand. Burning dvd's just as same amount of time as the old drive (philip dvd rw). Maybe it shaved off 20 to 30 sec.

This product does the job,but construction is not so good.The reading quality is not good compared to my other drive.The only reason we purchased it was to use the light scribe but I was disappointed how flimsy the tray was.I just primarly use it to burn light scribe nothing else.I wouldn't recommend this product

This drive works as described. It is fast and have not had any coasters yet. I have burned both CD and DVD, but have not tried the lightscibe as of yet. It is very quite while writing, the tray seems to open rather fast but is smooth in doing so. I have this drive as well as an LG burner so I am in burner heaven now. I would recommend this drive to everyone!
